I like living in downtown St Louis, I get to see all of the glamorous marketing pieces of all of the promised developments which may or may not come to downtown. Each has its own twist; modern-urban, industrial-urban, historic meets urban, Manhattan sophisticated urban, and now green/eco urban. Or at least that’s what they want you to think.
The development is called Roberts Tower and if it takes them as long to build it as it does for the site to load, then I’m worried. On the site you’ll find nice flash graphics, but some really thin descriptions of their green features. Here’s the list:
- Constructed with environmentally responsible and sustainable materials
- 50-70% energy savings
- Recycling program
- Designed to achieve LEED Gold certification for green construction standards
- Energy efficient appliances
- Helps reduce CO2 emissions (carbon footprint)
Pretty thin list for promoting their project as green. Juxtapose that with a local green home builder and see the difference between serious and jumping on the bandwagon.
Maybe they are serious and their website is just lacking. But if so, they should really take the time to explain their LEED Gold Design and their “sustainable” materials. Otherwise they’re just another attempt at greenwashing like BP.
